Three Valencia fans have received an eight-month prison sentence after admitting to insulting Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior. This marks the first conviction for racism-related incidents in Spanish professional football.
As part of the sentencing, the supporters will be barred from entering football stadiums for two years and will be responsible for covering any associated legal costs.
The arrests occurred following a La Liga match between Real Madrid and Valencia at the Mestalla stadium in May 2023. The game experienced a brief interruption due to the verbal abuse directed at Vinícius.
Valencia had previously imposed a ban on fans attending matches at the Mestalla stadium.
