As the Basketball Africa League (BAL) season 4 playoffs and finals approach, the anticipation is mounting for an electrifying lineup of performances set to grace the BK Arena in Kigali.
Scheduled to kick off in less than a week, the finals of the BAL typically draw attention not only from basketball enthusiasts but also from music aficionados worldwide, thanks to the star-studded halftime shows.
This year’s BAL 4 playoffs promise to be no different, with a diverse array of local and international acts set to take the stage, headlined by Nigerian sensation Adekunle Gold and Rwanda’s very own The Ben. Joining them are Chris Eazy, Ish Kevin, Kevin Kade, Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King, Bwiza, Ishami Talent, Inganzi Ngari cultural troupe, and Kenny Sol.
The selected artists will entertain spectators during the halftime shows of the finals, adding an extra layer of excitement to the basketball extravaganza.
According to the performance schedule released by BAL on Friday, May 17, Inganzo Ngari will kick off the opening ceremony of the playoffs on May 24. During the opening game, which will feature a showdown between Libya’s Al Ahly Ly and South Africa’s Cape Town Tigers followed by defending champion Al Ahly (Egypt) against FUS Rabat (Morocco), Juno Kizigenza and Adekunle Gold will take the stage.
Meanwhile, basketball enthusiasts can look forward to captivating performances by The Ben and Ishami Talent during the grand finale scheduled for June 1.
Entertainment will extend beyond the confines of the BK Arena, with BAL fan zones offering music jams courtesy of Kigali’s top DJs.
The BAL finals return to Kigali after the conclusion of the Sahara Conference in Dakar, Senegal, where three out of four teams secured tickets to the playoffs and finals. Notably, this year marks the first time the playoffs will proceed without a representative from Rwanda, as APR failed to qualify after finishing at the bottom of the Sahara Conference group phase.
The stage is set for a thrilling culmination to the BAL season 4, promising a fusion of basketball prowess and musical flair that will captivate audiences in Kigali and beyond.
