Nigerian artist Asake, who burst into the mainstream in 2022, has announced the release of his third album, Lungu Boy. Set to drop on August 9, 2024, the album will feature collaborations with a lineup of international stars, including Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American rapper Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.
The album follows a string of successful collaborations for Asake, who has recently worked with artists such as Zlatan, Ayra Starr, Victony, Tems, and Central Cee. Among the tracks on Lungu Boy are the previously released singles “Only Me” and “Wave,” which features Central Cee.
Asake’s forthcoming tour, also named Lungu Boy, will include performances at London’s O2 Arena, a venue he previously headlined in 2023, and New York’s Madison Square Garden. This will make Asake only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the iconic venue.
This new album marks Asake’s third release in as many years, continuing a remarkable streak of success. His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibes, won Album of the Year at the 2023 Headies Awards. His second album, Work of Art, featured the hit single “Lonely At The Top,” which set a record for the longest-charting song on the TurnTable Top 100.
