Bangladesh Defense Delegation in Rwanda to Enhance Military Ties

A delegation of 20 faculty members and student officers from the Bangladesh National Defence College, led by Brig. Gen. Sazedul Islam, visited the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) headquarters on Tuesday, September 10.

The delegation was welcomed by RDF Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, who underscored the robust cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.

“We have all that a student wishes to have. The difficult days are over, but they have left a mark; it’s a revolution that continues,” Muganga said, noting the RDF’s ongoing transformation.

The delegation received briefings on the RDF’s advancements and regional security from RDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga and Col. Stanislas Gashugi.

Brig. Gen. Sazedul Islam commended Rwanda’s progress, stating, “We are here to share professional military education. Rwanda is moving in the right direction.”

During their week-long study tour, the delegation also honored the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.

Their itinerary includes visits to several RDF institutions, including the Command and Staff College in Nyakinama.

In June, Gen. Muganga conducted a three-day working visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Bangladesh Army Chief of Staff. The visit, held from June 12 to 15, was aimed at strengthening military cooperation between the two nations, according to the RDF.
