Bob Bryar, the former drummer for rock band My Chemical Romance, has died at the age of 44. The news was confirmed by a spokesperson for the band, who issued the following statement:
“The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing.”
Bryar was a member of My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010, contributing to the band’s highly successful third album, The Black Parade, which helped propel them to international fame. While the band is planning a tour for 2024, according to their official Instagram, Bryar was not involved in the band’s recent lineup.
My Chemical Romance, formed in New Jersey in the early 2000s, had disbanded in 2013, only to reunite in 2019 for a show in Los Angeles. In mid-2022, the band released new music for the first time since 2014.
