David Rwiyamirira emerged victorious in the PMC Golf Open tournament, unseating former champion Innocent Rutamu. The tournament, which concluded on Saturday, December 16, at the Kigali Golf Resort and Villas, witnessed a four-month-long competition that culminated in Rwiyamirira’s triumph over Emmanuel Byamungu in the final match.
The 2023 PMC Golf Open, considered one of the premier golf competitions in Rwanda, commenced in August with a total of 193 golfers, comprising both local and international participants. The tournament adopted a knockout format, with players progressing through various stages until Rwiyamirira secured the ultimate title in the final showdown.
Rwiyamirira, the newly crowned champion, was presented with a trophy and an air ticket from Kenya Air for a holiday in Nairobi as part of his winnings.
The PMC Golf tournament has a history of notable winners, including Kelly Doran in 2016, Kennedy Mirichu in 2017, Bheki Mthembu in 2018, Arthur Mugunga in 2019, James Muigai in 2021, and Innocent Rutamu in 2022. Rwiyamirira now joins this prestigious list of champions with his remarkable victory in the 2023 edition of the tournament.
