The 2024 CAF Awards, celebrating Africa’s top football players, coaches, and teams, will also spotlight the continent’s rich entertainment scene. Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz and Moroccan artist Dystinct are set to headline the event, adding a touch of musical brilliance to the prestigious ceremony.
Scheduled for Monday night, the glittering event will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, starting at 19:00 local time (18:00 GMT/20:00 Cairo time/21:00 East African time). While the awards will honor achievements on the football field, they will also showcase world-class performances in music and dance.
Diamond Platnumz, famed for his Bongo Flava and Afrobeat fusion, is among the main acts. The internationally acclaimed artist and entrepreneur has made waves globally, becoming the first Africa-based musician to surpass 900 million views on YouTube. He has released four albums, including A Boy from Tandale (2018) and First of All (2022), and is the founder of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet, and Wasafi Media.
Joining him on stage is Dystinct, a Moroccan singer celebrated for blending R&B, Afrobeat, and Arabic influences into his music. With two award-winning albums, Mon Voyage (2021) and Layali (2023), Dystinct has carved a unique niche in the music industry and collaborated with international stars like French singer Franglish.
The evening’s entertainment lineup also features performances by the orchestral Trio Andalou, the female group Women in Jazz, and a dance showcase choreographed by Casablanca-based Hip-Hop and House dancer Adil Nakach.
The 2024 CAF Awards promise a night of glamour, excellence, and cultural celebration, uniting football and music on a global stage.
