Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has been appointed Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Kenzo, whose real name is Edrisa Musuuza and who is also the President of the Ugandan National Musicians Federation, joins a group of over 160 advisers to the president. His new role aims to address longstanding concerns about government support for the creative industry.
Kenzo’s partner, Phiona Nyamutoro, the Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, congratulated him on social media.
“Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment, @eddykenzoofficial. Proud of you always. Thank you H.E @KagutaMuseveni,” Nyamutoro wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on August 21.
