Éric Chelle Appointed Head Coach of Nigeria’s National Football Team

Nigeria has appointed Éric Chelle as their new head football coach, giving him the task of leading the team in its bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Chelle, 47, previously coached Mali for two years, guiding them to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they were eliminated by Ivory Coast in extra time.

Born in Abidjan, Chelle represented Mali internationally, earning five caps as a player. He enjoyed a club career in France, most notably with Lens, before transitioning into coaching.
