In a groundbreaking achievement, Rwandan gospel sensation Israel Mbonyicyambu sold out the BK Arena twice in a row during his annual Christmas celebration, ‘Icyambu Live Concert.’ The second edition, held on December 25, witnessed a massive crowd as doors opened at 4 pm, attracting thousands of enthusiastic revelers by 5 pm.
Renowned gospel DJ, Dj Spin, set the stage with a lively medley from the start, building anticipation for the main event. At 6:50 pm, gospel singer Mcee Yvan Ngenzi took the stage, leading the audience in Christmas celebrations with a blend of songs and traditional dances.
By 7:38 pm, Mbonyi made a grand entrance, captivating the audience with well-known songs like “Umusirikare,” the Swahili version of ‘Baho’ (Uwe Hai), ‘Nzibyo Nibwira,’ and ‘Karame.’ Renowned pastor Julienne Kabanda delivered a Christmas sermon at 9:30 pm, reflecting on the global significance of the day.
Expressing gratitude at 10:05 pm, Mbonyi returned to the stage, treating the audience to a mix of songs, including “Mfite Umukunzi,” “Ibihe,” “Urukumbuzi,” “Uri Uwigitangaza,” “Urwandiko,” “Nitaamini,” and “Sinzibagirwa.”
At 11:10 pm, the much-anticipated “Nina Siri” and “Hari’ubuzima” were performed, concluding the night with “Icyambu.” Despite demands for more, Mbonyi bid farewell, returning for an encore at 11:45 pm with a second performance of “Nina Siri.”
