Jay-Z has denied allegations of raping a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 afterparty alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, calling the claims “idiotic” and “heinous.” The woman, who previously accused Combs of sexual assault, amended her lawsuit to include Jay-Z, alleging he participated in the assault after she became disoriented from a drink at the party.
Jay-Z revealed he anonymously sued the woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, in California, accusing him of attempting to extort money by threatening to make the allegations public unless a settlement was reached. In a statement, Jay-Z rejected the settlement attempt, calling Buzbee a “fraud” and vowing not to pay.
Buzbee denied the extortion claims, asserting his letter only sought confidential mediation and accusing Jay-Z of harassing the plaintiff. Buzbee’s firm, representing over 120 alleged victims of Combs, has filed multiple lawsuits and set up a hotline for accusers.
Combs, who is in custody on federal sex trafficking charges, has denied all allegations. Jay-Z, meanwhile, expressed concern over the impact of the accusations on his family, particularly his children.
