At 61, Johnny Depp is venturing beyond acting with the launch of his new art exhibition, titled “A Bunch of Stuff.”
Described as an “immersive exhibition showcasing Depp’s artwork for the first time,” the display features pieces the actor initially did not plan to make public.
“The idea, I suppose, is to just take a walk through a bunch of things that have been lying around for years, you know, paint something,” Depp said. “I never really had any particular plans on showing them; they were just for me or just to do.”
According to the exhibition’s official website, the event guides viewers through various phases of Depp’s life and creative process.
Art consultant Anne-Sophie Villemin explained, “It is an exhibition about art, about his art practice, his creative process. It’s filled with a lot of art, but there are also objects and accessories that support the story we’re trying to tell.”
“A Bunch of Stuff” is described as a “multimedia exhibition” that primarily features excerpts from Depp’s journals dating back to his teenage years.
“The majority of the works are on paper, stemming from his journaling practice,” Villemin noted. “It’s a medium that offers a lot of spontaneity, and his work is characterized by this very spontaneous, unprepared process.”
The exhibition is located at 600W 27th Street at 11th Avenue in New York.
