President Paul Kagame has officially sworn in Joseph Nsengimana as Rwanda’s new Minister of Education. Nsengimana, who was appointed earlier this week, replaces Gaspard Twagirayezu in the role.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Kagame highlighted the significance of education as a critical sector for Rwanda’s development and global progress. He emphasized that Nsengimana’s appointment reflects his commitment to serving the country by taking on the responsibility of advancing education.
“Education is essential for the development of Rwanda and the world. Our country benefits from educational outcomes both within and beyond our borders,” Kagame stated.
He noted that the pursuit of quality education is crucial in preparing students to face future challenges. However, he acknowledged that despite significant progress, there is still much work to be done.
“Our education system has made great strides, but we are not yet fully satisfied when we look at what’s happening elsewhere. The responsibility of education is not Nsengimana’s alone; it is a shared duty of all leaders,” Kagame added.
The president called for collective efforts from all Rwandans, emphasizing that education is a responsibility shared by the youth, elders, and leaders alike. Together, he said, the nation can continue to build on its achievements and strive for greater success in education.
