Kenya will host the 14th edition of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games from December 7 to 15, with eight countries from the region set to compete.
Kenyan President William Ruto will officially open the games in Mombasa, where legislators from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and South Sudan will compete across eight sports disciplines. These include tug of war, football, golf, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball, and darts.
The games received a boost with the announcement that pan-African sports investment company Mchezo Limited will serve as the title sponsor, marking the second consecutive year the company has backed the event.
Rwanda will field teams in football, basketball, handball, and tug of war.
In the previous edition of the games, Uganda emerged as the overall winner of the 13th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games, held in Kigali in December 2023. Uganda finished with 28 medals, including 16 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze. Rwanda placed fourth with six medals, including two gold, three silver, and one bronze.
