King Charles Diagnosed with Cancer, Postpones Public Duties

Buckingham Palace has officially announced that King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. The Palace confirmed that the illness, distinct from prostate cancer, was discovered during the King’s hospitalization for an enlarged prostate.

While the King has commenced a regimen of regular treatments, he has been advised to temporarily step back from his public-facing responsibilities. The Palace, however, has not disclosed the specific type of cancer affecting the monarch.

Despite the diagnosis, King Charles is committed to continuing his work behind the scenes on state affairs and official documents. He is set to return from Sandringham to London on Monday to undergo outpatient treatment.

In response to the news, Prince Harry is rushing to the UK after receiving personal notification of his father’s cancer diagnosis.

The Palace released a statement saying, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”

“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual. The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
