Naomi Campbell, a trailblazer in the world of fashion, has become the first supermodel to showcase her own solo exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
Opening this Saturday, the exhibition features approximately 80 garments from Campbell’s personal collection, alongside photographs and items from her extensive archive spanning her illustrious 40-year career.
Campbell expressed her hopes for visitors to gain insight into her journey: “I want them to see the craftsmanship, the creatives I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with over these four decades, and the narrative that defines me as a person, which I rarely share publicly.”
The exhibition highlights Campbell’s collaborations with iconic designers like Vivienne Westwood, Gianni Versace, and Alexander McQueen, showcasing dresses worn on runways, at photoshoots, and special events.
Notably, the exhibition includes a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes famously causing Campbell to stumble during a runway show. Reflecting on the incident, Campbell remarked, “Those were her signature shoes. If you didn’t know how to walk in them, you had to learn. I thought I could, but I learned the hard way that I couldn’t.”
Recently embracing motherhood, Campbell simply described the experience as “great, thank you.”
“Naomi in Fashion” at the Victoria and Albert Museum runs from June 22 through April 6, 2025, offering a unique glimpse into the career and influence of a true fashion icon.
