Deputy VC of the University of Kigali, Appointed International Trade Adviser by NBCC

The Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has named Professor Ogechi Adeola, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Kigali, as its International Trade Adviser.

In a statement posted on its LinkedIn page, the chamber highlighted Adeola’s extensive experience in academia and the corporate sector, describing her as a valuable addition to its mission of fostering trade and investment between Nigeria and Britain.

Professor Adeola brings invaluable experience from her consulting roles with Afreximbank, where she contributes to the African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network initiative. This initiative is designed to strengthen collaboration among sub-sovereign governments and advance intra-African trade and investment within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area,” the chamber said.

The NBCC also noted Adeola’s work as a National Consultant for the International Labour Organisation, where she focused on women’s entrepreneurship and economic empowerment in Nigeria, making significant contributions to policy recommendations on gender equality and inclusivity.

Reacting to her appointment, Adeola expressed gratitude for the recognition. “Thank you, Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, for this recognition and the trust placed in me. I look forward to working closely with the Chamber and its members to strengthen bilateral relations and drive impactful initiatives. Together, we can achieve great milestones in promoting business growth and collaboration,” she said.

The NBCC, a bilateral trade organization, continues to promote economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. As part of its activities, the chamber is currently preparing for its 2025 Trade Mission to the U.K.
