Nigerian artist Ric Hassani headlined the Shorts Na Leesu (SHONALE) Music Festival in Kampala over the weekend, making it a memorable comeback for the event after a two-year hiatus. Held at the Lugogo Hockey Grounds, the festival is renowned for blending African and urban culture.
The festival, also known as Shonale, kicked off Kampala’s party calendar for 2024, delivering unparalleled entertainment to attendees. Rising star ‘Banger Boy’ Elijah Kitaka and the 2023 ‘Nana’ hitmaker Joshua Baraka captivated the audience with their infectious rhythms. Additionally, upcoming artist Mike Mungu showcased his unique Afro Vocaloid music, a fusion of pop, RnB, hip-hop, and afrobeats.
Ric Hassani, a household name since his 2017 debut with “The African Gentleman” album, treated fans to a spectacular performance featuring hits like “Gentleman,” “Aminah,” “Ngozi,” “The One,” “Only You,” and “My Baby.”
Saint Trevor and Zuba hosted the Shonale Music Festival, ensuring the lively atmosphere throughout the event. The DJ lineup included well-known names such as Forever Etania, DJ Ssese, EM That Guy, DJ Alza, DJ Vanns, Melvyn DJ, and DJ Hedges. The festival’s return marked a vibrant start to the music scene in Kampala for the new year.
