A series of pager explosions across Lebanon has resulted in several deaths and numerous injuries, prompting the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah to blame Israel for the attacks.
Among the injured are several Hezbollah members and Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, according to Iranian state media. Lebanon’s health ministry reported that a child was among those killed in the blasts.
The Israeli military has not commented on the incidents. Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel, with both sides engaged in exchanges of fire since the October 7 Hamas attack, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
These cross-border exchanges have displaced tens of thousands from their homes in northern Israel and southern Lebanon.
The United Nations described Tuesday’s explosions as “extremely concerning,” particularly given the already tense situation in the region.
