Polish President, First Lady Arrive In Kigali

Polish President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda have landed in Kigali for a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening ties between Rwanda and Poland.

Upon their arrival at Kigali International Airport, the President and his wife, who previously stopped in Nairobi, Kenya, were warmly greeted by Dr. Vincent Biruta, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, along with other high-ranking officials.

The visit holds special significance given the enduring friendship between Rwanda and Poland, dating back to July 10, 1962, when diplomatic relations were established. Over the years, this relationship has flourished, encompassing various sectors such as education, defense, agriculture, trade, and investment.

President Duda’s trip to Rwanda is part of a larger East African tour that will conclude in Tanzania, underscoring Poland’s commitment to expanding its presence on the African continent. During his time in Rwanda, President Duda is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and oversee the signing of cooperation agreements between the two nations. A joint press conference is also planned.

In addition to official meetings, President Duda will pay respects at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and participate in Rwanda-Polish business engagements. His itinerary also includes a visit to the LuNa smelter, the largest Polish investment in Rwanda’s mining sector, as well as a trip to Kibeho in the Southern Province.
