Recording Academy ‘Grammys’ Expands Reach into Africa

The Recording Academy, known for its prestigious GRAMMY Awards, is broadening its global outreach to support music creators. Collaborating with Ministries of Culture and key stakeholders across the Middle East and Africa, the academy aims to strengthen its presence and services in these burgeoning music markets.

“This is exciting because music is one of humanity’s greatest natural resources,” stated Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy.

Over the past two years, Academy leaders have actively engaged with these regions through listening sessions, briefings, tours, and direct discussions with governmental bodies and music creators alike.

The Academy’s collaborative efforts extend to partnerships with the Ministries of Culture in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, the Rwanda Development Board, and South Africa’s Ministry of Sports, Arts, and Culture. Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) have been formalized with Ghana and the Ivory Coast.
