Rwanda Revenue Authority Unveils Unified Portal for Online Services

In a significant leap toward modernization, the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) introduced the “MyRRA” system on Tuesday, December 5, consolidating all its online services into a single, user-friendly portal. The inauguration of this centralized platform marks a pivotal moment in the institution’s ongoing efforts to become a world-class, efficient revenue agency, capable of meeting national needs.

The initial rollout of the portal targets VAT-registered businesses, streamlining the process of submitting tax declarations and facilitating online payments. However, RRA has plans to extend the services to all taxpayers, providing them with the ability to access their tax account status across various tax types. Additionally, users will be able to review outstanding tax amounts and anticipate upcoming declarations, enhancing overall transparency and efficiency.

Before the introduction of MyRRA, users accessed different services through various RRA systems, such as e-tax, Rwanda Automated Local Government Taxes, non-fiscal revenue services, and Rwanda e-Single Window. The consolidation into a unified portal aims to simplify the user experience and improve accessibility to crucial services.

During the official launch event, RRA’s Commissioner General, Pascal Ruganintwali, underscored the significance of MyRRA in realizing the institution’s vision for transformation. He emphasized the commitment to becoming a modern revenue agency capable of meeting the evolving needs of the nation.

The success of this achievement is attributed to the collaborative efforts between the Government of Rwanda and South Korea, a partnership initiated in 2018 through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The joint venture underscores the commitment to leveraging international expertise and cooperation to advance Rwanda’s technological infrastructure and administrative capabilities.

As MyRRA ushers in a new era of streamlined online services, the collaboration between Rwanda and South Korea serves as a testament to the global partnerships that contribute to the modernization and efficiency of national revenue agencies. The unified portal represents a crucial step forward in aligning with international best practices and meeting the growing demands of a dynamic economic landscape.
