SKOL Brewery Ltd Partners with TotalEnergies for Sustainable Operations

In an effort to enhance sustainability, SKOL Brewery Ltd, known for launching Virunga Water in returnable glass bottles, has entered a significant partnership with TotalEnergies. The collaboration, focused on incorporating Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) into the brewery’s operations, was formalized during a ceremony attended by high-level executives from both companies on Monday.

The event saw the presence of Jean Philippe Torres, Senior Vice President of TotalEnergies Marketing Africa, along with his team members Olagoke ALUKO, Executive Vice President for East & Central Africa, Ronan MASSERON, Country Chair, and Marc Renaud, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Rwanda Ltd. They were joined by Francis Gatare, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, and his team, who were hosted by SKOL Brewery’s General Manager, Eric Gilson, and his staff.

This partnership aims to supply LPG for use in forklifts and boilers at SKOL’s facilities, marking a significant step in the brewery’s journey towards reducing its environmental footprint and adopting greener manufacturing practices. This initiative is in line with Rwanda’s ambitious climate goals, which include a 38% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, aiming for a climate-resilient and carbon-neutral economy by 2050.

The move is not only in anticipation of future environmental regulations but also offers operational benefits such as indoor forklift usage, improved fuel consumption control, and other efficiencies. SKOL Brewery’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices reflects its dedication to making a positive impact in the community and leading by example in environmental conservation.
