Swedish Prosecutors Drop Rape Investigation Involving Kylian Mbappé

Swedish prosecutors have closed a rape investigation related to soccer star Kylian Mbappé’s visit to Stockholm in October, citing insufficient evidence.

Lead investigator Marina Chirakova said there was not enough evidence to continue the inquiry, which centered on an alleged incident at a hotel in the city.

“Throughout the investigation, a specific individual was reasonably suspected of rape and two instances of sexual assault, but I have determined that the evidence does not support further action, so the investigation is now closed,” Chirakova said in a statement.

She added that the individual in question has not been informed of any criminal suspicion.

While prosecutors did not publicly identify the suspect, several Swedish media outlets reported that Mbappé, who was in Stockholm during a break in the Spanish league season, was under investigation.

Mbappé’s legal team had previously denied the reports, calling them inaccurate.

The soccer star’s attorney, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, and his representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
