The global Afro-music powerhouse, Trace, has announced that the highly anticipated 2025 edition of the Trace Awards will be held in Zanzibar. The vibrant awards ceremony will take place from February 24 to 26 at the beautiful Mora Resort, celebrating the energy, creativity, and cultural influence of African and Afro-inspired music and talent worldwide.
This year’s event is in partnership with Zanzibar’s Ministry of Tourism, and it aims to spotlight the achievements of African musicians, creators, entrepreneurs, and influencers across the continent and the diaspora. Speaking at the launch in Zanzibar, Minister of Tourism Mudrik Soraga expressed pride in hosting the event, noting that the awards provide a powerful opportunity to recognize the impact of African creatives on the global stage. “These awards celebrate leaders in the urban cultural landscape, and there’s no better place to host this world-class event,” he said.
Olivier Laouchez, Co-Founder and CEO of Trace, shared the team’s excitement about holding the awards in Zanzibar, calling it a prime opportunity to promote Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential. He emphasized that the event would enhance Zanzibar’s status as a cultural tourism hub, showcasing attractions like the UNESCO-listed Stone Town.
The Trace Awards 2025 will feature performances from leading African and Afro-descent artists, with an audience of 7,000 fans, artists, influencers, and policymakers from across Africa and around the globe.
