Ubumuntu Arts Festival Marks 10th Anniversary with a Tribute to Integrity and Resilience

The Ubumuntu Arts Organization proudly announces the 10th anniversary of the Ubumuntu Arts Festival, taking place from July 18th to 28th, 2024, at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Amphitheatre. 

This year’s theme, “Integrity: Resilience in the Face of Adversity,” aims to honor the visionary artists and creatives whose steadfast commitment and innovative spirit have propelled this festival into a globally recognized platform for artistic expression.

Since its inception, the Ubumuntu Arts Festival has served as a beacon of hope and a space for meaningful artistic exchange. It has consistently drawn talent from around the world, offering them a stage to share their works that resonate with the core values of humanity and perseverance.

Founded on the principles of humanity,  the Ubumuntu Arts Organization aims to bridge cultural and national divides through the power of art. This annual festival has become a cornerstone event that attracts artists and audiences from across the globe.

2024 Festival Highlights:

Instead of the  usual 1-day conference and 3-day festival, Ubumunti is  extending the celebration to 10 days to mark a decade of impact. 

18th July: Ikaze Night – A vibrant kickoff event filled with music, dance, and cultural celebrations to welcome attendees to the festival.

19th – 21st July: Ubumuntu Classic – Performances at the Kigali Genocide Memorial from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Three consecutive evenings of powerful artistic performances.

22nd July: Loud Silence; Mental Health Day – A day dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues through thematic workshops, insightful discussions, and captivating performances aimed at promoting mental well-being and reducing stigma.

23rd July: Creative Currents; Science, Art, and Tech Day – An exploration of the intersection between art, science, and technology through engaging exhibitions, thought-provoking panel discussions, and innovative performances, showcasing how these disciplines intertwine to shape our world.

24th July: Letters of Legacy; Literature Day – A celebration of the written word featuring renowned authors and poets, offering book panels, stimulating debates, live music, and captivating poetry readings, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in the beauty of language and storytelling.

25th July: Green is Me; Environmental Awareness Day – An enlightening day focused on raising awareness about environmental issues, promoting sustainable practices, and inspiring action through various artistic mediums such as art installations, eco-fashion displays, and floral exhibitions, highlighting the importance of protecting our planet.

26th – 28th July: Listening And Leading: The Art And Science Of Peace, Resilience And Transformational Justice; Conference in collaboration with Aegis Trust – Three days of insightful discussions, keynote speeches, and collaborative workshops, in partnership with Aegis Trust, aimed at promoting peace, justice, and unity through the power of art and humanity.

The Ubumuntu Arts Festival not only celebrates artistic achievements but also fosters discussions that challenge and inspire audiences and participants alike. It provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the human condition and the resilience required to uphold integrity in the face of global challenges.
