The inaugural Unveil Africa Fest, a celebration of Africa’s rich cultural heritage, will take place in Kigali on December 7 at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV), formerly known as Camp Kigali.
Organized by Unveil Africa Ltd, the festival aims to spotlight Africa’s diverse artistic traditions while fostering unity and pride within the African community. It will feature live performances by renowned musicians, dancers, and artists from across the continent, offering a platform to showcase African talent to a wider audience.
“We want to create an event that not only celebrates art and culture but also promotes a deeper appreciation of Africa’s legacy,” said Clarisse Uwase, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Unveil Africa Ltd. “It’s also a way to honor our roots, inspire future generations, and build cross-cultural understanding.”
The festival will bring together artists, performers, and creators to bridge Africa’s past, present, and future, offering an immersive cultural experience for both local and international guests.
Among the performers set to appear are the Intayoberana Cultural Troupe, Victor Rukotana, Ruti Joel, Chris Neat, Jeisha, Siboyintore, and the Himbaza Club, a popular Burundian drumming group.
The idea for the festival was born out of Uwase’s personal connection to Africa’s cultural heritage. “I grew up with the stories and songs of my ancestors,” Uwase recalled. “But I noticed a growing disconnection between the younger generation and the traditions that shaped our identity. This realization sparked a desire to preserve and share Africa’s cultural treasures.”
Her partner, Moisie Uwiragiye, who has always had a passion for the arts, echoed that sentiment. “From a young age, I was drawn to the rhythm of African drums and the stories woven into African dance. To me, every beat, every stroke of paint, and every song speaks to the resilience and creativity of African people.”
The festival’s organizers aim to create a full cultural experience that includes music, dance, poetry, fashion, and visual art. In addition to performances, the event will feature a fashion showcase, traditional Rwandan dances, and an after-party with local DJs. The festival also seeks to facilitate networking opportunities for those involved in Africa’s cultural industries.
Unveil Africa Fest is set to become an annual event that celebrates the wealth of African civilization and promotes the empowerment of the continent’s artistic communities.
