World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa Dr. Matshidiso Moeti visited Marburg outbreak response sites in Kigali on Wednesday, October 16, praising Rwandan health workers and survivors for their bravery and dedication.
Dr. Moeti arrived in Rwanda on Tuesday to observe the ongoing response efforts and the WHO’s collaboration with the government. In a social media post, she expressed her encouragement, noting the “proactive and swift actions” taken to identify cases, provide exceptional clinical care, and implement rapid control measures to prevent further transmission.
During a meeting with Minister of Health Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, Dr. Moeti congratulated the Rwandan government on its comprehensive response to the Marburg outbreak. She reaffirmed WHO’s commitment to continue working alongside the Ministry of Health to combat the outbreak effectively.
