Will It Be Worth the Wait? The Ben Teases New Music After 3 Years

All eyes are on Friday, September 27, as the singer, affectionately known as “Tiger B” prepares to drop what he promises will be “the song of the year”.

Will it be the start of his next great chapter? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—the music scene in Rwanda is about to get a whole lot hotter.

The music scene in Rwanda is buzzing with excitement as the music sensation, The Ben, real name Mugisha Benjamin, gears up for a release of a single he promised “will be the song of the year”.

This, according to the insiders, will be followed by the release of his much-anticipated album; however, Uwicyeza’s hubby has not revealed any information related to it.

The singer has kept his fans in suspense for over three years, consistently hinting at new music but without delivering an album. Now, after almost a year-gap since his last release “Ni forever”, he seems ready to give justice to his fanbase.

Notably, back in 2022, he announced that he was working on a new album, a project he has since been refining.

Over the weekend, on his Instagram page, he teased the near release of the song, with posts like “Next Friday something dope is happening… Sending Love to y’all”, keeping his followers on edge.

Similarly, the latest teaser, “summer is not over yet, get ready for the most anticipated song of the year”, has only added to the hype.  Fans are now eagerly awaiting the first song from the album, expected to drop anytime.

To engage his audience, The Ben has created a contest where fans are encouraged to guess which of the 10 songs from his upcoming album will be the first to be released.

The winner stands to earn Rwf500,000.

The track list includes titles like “Electric Love”, “Lost in the Moment”, “Unconditional”, “Heartbeat”, “Tonight”, “With You”, “Closer”, “Plenty”, “Fire” and “Whispers”, which fans have already begun speculating about.

But has he really been off the spotlight?

The “Naremeye” singer has been living in Rwanda for over a year, after spending much of his career abroad.

Notably, his return has been marked by a series of life events, including his marriage to Miss Pamela Uwicyeza, a former Miss Rwanda contestant.

The couple held their civil wedding in August 2022, followed by a traditional ceremony in December, which was attended by Rwandan celebrities, family, and close friends.

Despite settling into married life, The Ben has managed to stay active in Rwanda’s music scene, performing at events such as the Silverbacks Cafe launch in Musanze alongside Ugandan star Rema Namakula.

This performance marked another collaboration between the two artistes, who previously shared the stage at the UMA Show Grounds in Kololo, Kampala, in February this year.

The Ben’s influence extends beyond Rwanda’s borders. In October 2022, he performed for the first time in Burundi, where he has a significant fan base.

The show had been postponed after the death of his father, but when it finally took place, the “Habibi” singer was paid a staggering $35,000 (Rwf40,000,000) to headline the event.

This marked a key moment in his career, as he had long been in negotiations to perform in Burundi, but prior financial disagreements had kept him away.

What’s Next?

Although the release date for his full album has not been confirmed, it is evident that The Ben is building up to something monumental.

His recent singles, including “Ni Forever” dedicated to his wife, and “Sikosa”, a collaboration with Kevin Kade and Element Eleeeh, have kept his fans engaged. Now, with his upcoming concert and album, many believe that the “Ndaje” singer is on the verge of a major comeback that could reshape Rwanda’s music industry.

Fans are optimistic that the wait is nearly over, and with the promise of new music on the horizon, The Ben is once again the name on everyone’ lips.
